​Kim Yoona's improvisation creates new sounds and musical languages, expressing what she wants to say and what she finds in the moment with the ajaeng. Her improvisations are the product of all the music she plays—constantly evolving and capturing the fleeting moments of "chi-na" (찰나), a Buddhist concept referring to the imperceptible moment of transition, where everything is in constant flux. Kim Yoona has performed with a wide range of musicians, including Anthony Coleman, Joe Morris, Chris Cochrane, Fay Victor, Greg Kelley, Michael Rosenstein, Satoshi Takeishi, and Jin Sang Tae, both in the U.S. and internationally. In July 2026, Kim Yoona will have her own Week at The Stone in New York with her amazing musicians.
