The Global Yiddish Orchestra (GYO) is a contemporary music ensemble founded by Yoona Kim in 2023. While she discovered the unique musical beauty of Klezmer and the value of klezmer music for our life as global world. GYO believes that its greatest value lies in its remarkable ability to unite people through the shared joy of music.

Drawing inspiration from Klezmer's rich history, GYO aims to foster a sense of "togetherness" — a quality our world needs more of today through music. The band was born out of a deep desire to bridge cultures and create harmony through music, with members hailing from diverse corners of the globe.

GYO began with four talented musicians: Yoona Kim (Ajaeng) from Korea, Itay Dayan (clarinet) from Israel, George Maclaurin (piano) from New Zealand, and ALMA VATYA (banjo) from Arizona. Each member brings a unique musical perspective, blending the sounds of various cultures to reimagine the timeless tradition of Klezmer.
